Brooklands Museum - 6th April 2011

As our topic on journeys came to a close we finished with a trip to Brooklands museum. We had a lovely day, the weather was beautiful and we got to see vehicles dating back over 100 years. The adults were particularly thrilled to get to go on concorde!

Science Week - The Egg Drop - 24th March 2011

Continuing with Science week, we took part in a whole school 'Egg Drop' competition. Each class created a variety of containers for an egg to be put in and then dropped from a height of two metres. We then voted for our favourite to be tested against the other classes in the school.

Science Show - Forces - 23rd March 2011

As part of Science week we were visited by the Freshwater Theatre company. We took part in a quiz all about forces.

We learnt all about friction and gravity and how they affect things around us.

Making Vehicles - 17th March 2011

At last the moment Year 2 had been waiting for this week... we built our designed vehicles as part of our D.T for this term's topic on journeys.

We designed a wide range of vehicles from buses to helicopters. It was incredibly fun and we enjoyed it immensely.

Rwandan Skype/World Book Day 3rd March 2011

World Book Day this year saw us being taught by Mrs. McMahon in her pyjamas. All the staff were dressed in their nightwear! We thought this was very funny but not quite as funny as Miss. Grey having to explain to our twinned school in Rwanda why she and Mrs. McMahon were wearing them during our very first skype call. We were able to see and talk to Miss. Benwell, the headteacher from Giasagara B Primary school and class 3B - it was brilliant!

Road Safety Training - 2nd March 2011

As part of our topic on 'Journeys' we were visited by the Hammersmith and Fulham Road Safety Training team. We learnt all about how to cross the road safely, making sure that we always use the traffic lights, avoid walking out between parked cars and never run into the road. We even learnt a few songs which Mr. Stanton joined in with!

Museum of London - 25th January 2011

Continuing with our topic on 'Fire!' we visited the Museum of London. Mrs. McMahon took us on a tour of the 'Great Fire of London' gallery, where we were able to see the sort of fire fighting equipment that they used in 1666 compared to what we have today. We even tried it on!

We then took part in a story telling session all about the fire. We showed off our super knowledge and had a fantastic time!
